a unique inclusive approach

Considering the principles of Liberation psychology and social justice, my approach incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused treatment, and affirmative psychotherapy principles.

I specialize in affirmative psychotherapy for the LGBTQIA and POC communities, utilizing a trauma-informed approach with survivors of trauma and addressing cultural and acculturation issues.

Life can throw unexpected challenges our way. Sometimes, it feels overwhelming, and we need a helping hand to compassionately guide us through these difficult situations. Whether battling anxiety, depression, trauma, sex, intimacy, or navigating complex relationships, we can work together through your journey toward emotional well-being through therapy.

I support DACA recipients, first-generation students in pursuit of higher education, and individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, interpersonal challenges, sexual difficulties, and various life stressors.

I am enthusiastic about partnering with you if you are ready to actively engage in therapy by fostering openness to challenge and examining core beliefs.

During my doctoral program, integrating psychology and social justice principles deeply influenced my practice. You can explore my published article (click link) "A qualitative study understanding immigrant Latinas, violence, and available mental health care."

FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, we accept insurance and are in-network with Anthem Blue Cross, United Healthcare, Optum, and Aetna. All other insurance companies are considered out-of-network. I offer the option to provide you with a "superbill" that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement; it is recommended that you verify your benefits with your insurance plan.

Private pay and sliding scale are available.

Why do you charge a late cancelation or “no-show” fee?

I understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, leading to the need for appointment changes. However, please note that a late cancellation or no-show fee of $65 is charged for missed appointments. Most other providers usually charge you the full fee.

The appointment time was specifically reserved for you, and it is a time slot that we are unable to offer to another client.

If you have any concerns or need to reschedule your appointment, please get in touch at least 24 hours in advance.

Why see a trained sex therapist?

Sex therapy never includes sex.

Sex therapy is a specialized form of therapy focused on addressing issues related to sexual function, identity, behavior, desire and intimacy, and relationships. It involves working with individuals, couples, or groups to explore and resolve concerns related to sexuality and intimacy.

Unlike regular therapy, sex therapy specifically delves into areas such as sexual dysfunction, sexual orientation, gender identity, sexual trauma, and relationship dynamics as they pertain to sexual intimacy. Sex therapists are trained to discuss and address sexual concerns openly and non-judgmentally, helping clients navigate sensitive topics (i.e., kinks, fetishes, non-monogamy, hook-ups) in a safe and supportive environment.

Sex therapy provides a specialized approach to address sexual concerns that may not be fully explored or treated in traditional therapy settings.
